Network Security

Network Security for the Enterprise

Large organizations need to realize the importance of network security. Actually, I will take a step further to include the CSO, Chief Security Officer. He is the man (or in some rare cases woman) in charge of information security for the organization.

I will reveal numerous, some of them hair rising, experiences that I have been through. Single handedly implementing and maintaining network security for a company or over 2000 employees is no easy task. It has taken me 10 years just to get my bearings.

Through my experience I have reviewed countless security products. At our company we employ over 14 Checkpoint firewalls. The network is quite distributed and segmented. IPS or intrusion prevention systems such as Tipping Point from 3COM can be found everywhere.

Policies are written by me, yours truly. Security policies are also implemented by me, yours truly. Actually I run the entire security management show. I just have a boss who tries to trip me up every now and then. But that's ok. He's not on my Hanukkah list.

Our organization has discovered that one of the best ways to combat viruses is to convene periodical forums on the subject. Since the Norton Enterprise Anti Virus edition is worthless, I guess it's the minimum that we can do. Don't blame me for it. The only reason why we bought it is because the CEO was returning a favor (at our expense.)

Now I will not reveal the actual name of the company I am the Chief Security Officer for. I don't need any hassles. So let's just say I work for a company called XYZ. I will reveal my name though, its Ronen Levy. Pleased to meet you.

On with the Show!
